Shallow depth of field puts the subject in sharp focus with a blurry background. Large depth of field is where everything in the frame is equal in focus.

In the picture I found with shallow depth, it shows shallow depth because the leaf is the main focus with sharp focus while everything else is blurry.

In the picture I found with large depth, it shows large depth because everything is equal in focus.

I think shallow depth looks better because I like how the main focus of the picture is clear. With large depth, there’s no main focus.
